World of Organic Farming

• The Organic Farm Technician certification is an elective specialization model designed to be offered through U.S. Department of Education Career and Technical Education Agriculture, Food and Natural Resource (AFNR) pathway.

• It provides students with the academic, technical, and real-world specialized knowledge, skills, and experiences they’ll need to enter the spectrum of agricultural workforce career opportunities.

• The Certified Organic Farm Technician workforce training was produced through a cooperative agreement with the Agriculture Marketing Services National Organic Program titled “Human Capital Capacity Building initiative.”

• This USDA workforce development Initiative supports long-term growth of the organic industry by expanding the pool of well-qualified organic oversight professionals who ensure consistency, fairness, and integrity.

• The writers acknowledge the definitive training source, “Teaching Organic Farming and Gardening” as a primary certified organic farming curricular source for core instructional materials in the classroom, school-farm activities, and real-world learning scenarios.
